A major new skill development for children in this age-range is the accomplishment of independent walking. Learning to walk symbolizes that they can navigate their environment, taking on new parameters and possibilities. We believe it is important to establish routines because it is in this stage that children learn to recognize and follow familiar routines.
Our goal during this stage is to provide opportunities for children to develop their senses. The use of light and color to stimulate sight, taste, smell, touch and hearing all play a fundamental role in our program. We motivate children to move, practice, discover, and build their hand/eye coordination.
